"I've always struggled with shyness, which can be a problem when you get onstage in front of thousands of people for a living. Early on, I used to say I was going to chuck it all in and become a librarian like my dad, but my friends wouldn't let me give up. When you've got good people in your corner, you find you can do the impossible."

"I often worry people are going to think I'm rude because I never know what to say to strangers. It's easiest when fans talk to me about music - I'm not so uncomfortable when I'm on familiar ground."

"My siblings are all really outgoing. I think I missed out on the extrovert gene."

"Talking about being introverted isn't always hugely useful, because the term gets confused with shy. I am shy, but I'm also an introvert, which is a totally different thing. Shy means I don't know what to say to you when I first meet you. Introvert means I find too much time around other people tiring, and I'm not that good at initiating things. I've lost friends because they got frustrated that they always had to call me first or ask me to do things, never the other way around. I can see that it's a problem, but instead of doing anything about it, I've chosen to throw myself more into music instead. Music never gets mad I haven't called.

Various Lucie Lou quotes talking about shyness.

It will never not creep me out how young Lucie Lou looks. She's my age and she looks like she's about 12. How does that even happen?

Ran into Lucie Lou at the cinema! She was with a group of friends and she seemed really surprised that I recognised her, but she was very sweet to me and posed for a photo.

    Unpopular opinion time.

I hate Lucie Lou. I know a lot of you love her, but her music is really boring and repetitive and pretentious. I've heard a bunch of her songs and forgotten them all instantly, because there's nothing memorable about them. It's like she's taken all the good things about folk music and gotten rid of them so we're left with this Folk Lite that just sounds generic and uninspired. She basically writes the McDonald's of folk music.
